Introducing Snails...
Hello all...
My name is Snails (Milissa Yoon). I was born in San Francisco, CA and was raised in Oakland, CA. I am a Korean-American (1.5 generation). I moved to New York for about five years 12 years ago, then went to Massachusetts College of Art in Boston where I received a BFA in Studio for Inter-Related Media. That just means the core classes for my major were Lighting, Technical Theatre, etc. and you could choose your own major classes on top of the core...I took video-editing, woodworking, and computer design classes. I originally entered school as a painter. I am a graffiti artist and have been since 1989. I love music and am kind of a science geek. I am currently getting a second degree in Education teaching science to adolescents. I hope to incorporate art in the teaching of science. I already have a blog. It's called Snails' Blabbings in Blogs. What makes me notorious is that I had the pleasure of going to school with Peter Berdovsky.

Great. Thanks for the post, Snails. See you soon.

Since the Peter Berdovsky stunt in Boston happened on (or around) my test date in early Feb, I was totally out of it and this story passed without my hearing of it. After I read your post, Snails, I googled him and learned of the debacle. Very interesting. I'm wondering if you, or others, have any thoughts on what these guys did. Was it in their right? Were they making a statement? Was the public response appropriate?
These guys weren't making a statement. They were making a few bucks putting up advertisements for a corny cartoon on Adult Swim. How is that a statement?
They didn't do anything wrong, necessarily. People working for the city of Boston did wrong by overreacting in such an amazingly stupid way. Somebody screwed up, which caused another person to screw up, and then a domino effect of screwing up happened, and they all hid under the cloak of "Terrorist Attack Prevention" to cover up their mistakes.
As far as the guy with dreads and his buddy go, the only thing they were guilty of is acting stupid in front of the cameras. I felt sorry for those reporters. They must have been thinking, 'Wait. I have to waste my time reporting on these guys? You've gotta be kidding me!'
I am in no way saying that this marketing attempt was correct for post-9/11 America. However, the craftsmanship of the Mooninite objects was pretty ingenious, circuitboards with LED lighting, with backs that are magnetized for metal structures which was perfect for throwing the objects to places and having them stick. They took a job, a gig per piece, and then got busted, but it was really just that someone had to take blame and the fall guy, Samples who was head of Cartoon Network, ended up resigning. Actually, I don't think it was such a bad visual prank...It was just blown up in Boston's serious and proper atmosphere, and you're talking about two guys who don't take much seriously. Except for hair, of course...
